Intra abdominal infections. SIDE EFFECTS Dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, myalgia, restlessness, tachycardia, tremors, insomnia, abdominal pain, sweating, skin rash, dyspepsia, pseudomembranous colitis, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, edema, hot flushes, syncope, gynecomastia, abnormal LFT, hypersensitivity reactions. DRUG INTERACTION Moxifloxacin is known to interact with other drugs like amoxapine, cisapride, didanosine, sucralfate, warfarin (Na). Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required. MECHANISM OF ACTION The bactericidal action of moxifloxacin results from inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV. DNA gyrase is an essential enzyme that is involved in the replication, transcription and repair of bacterial DNA.
