SIDE EFFECTS Dry mouth, blurred vision, difficulty in swallowing and talking, constipation, urinary retention, dilatation of pupil, and abnormal heart rhythm. DRUG INTERACTION Valathamate is known to interact with other drugs like amantadine, antihistamines, phenothiazide antipsychotics, TCAs, antagonise GI effects of domperidone, metoclopramide. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required. MECHANISM OF ACTION A quaternary ammonium anticholinergic with peripheral actions close to those of atropine.
